Eric Anderson, Jr.
Music Director - First UMC
I’d like to thank everyone for welcoming me as organist and pianist into the FUMC family. I previously served in that role, as well as choir director, for Christ Church UM in Wellesley for two years. In fact, they had initially hired me just as a pianist, but encouraged me to give their pipe organ a try. And once I did, I was hooked! It’s such a wonderful instrument for leading worship, and it’s always a pleasure to be on the bench.
Before moving to Stoughton, my husband Alexander and I lived in Bloomington, Indiana, where he grew up, and where I had gone to school to study piano at the IU Jacobs School of Music. When he was offered a post-doctoral gig in 2014 with the Harvard Medical School, we packed up and moved east, and it’s been a fascinating journey to discover how best to fit myself into the massive music and arts scene that is the Greater Boston area. Currently, in addition serving this congregation, I’m music-directing for the Wellesley Theatre Project as well as teaching privately out of my own studio here in Stoughton. I’m also a member of Stoughton’s Cultural Council, which has been a great way to get to know more about the community.
