Pastor Alan McCall

I am very excited and blessed to be joining the staff of the South Shore Cooperative Parish. For several years I have been called into ministry and am looking forward to seeing what GOD has planned for this congregation.

My calling began in 2010 when I attended a worship service at the Harbor United Methodist Church in Scituate. I felt a connection to Jesus Christ and knew then that I had spiritual gifts that needed to be shared. Over the next several years I obtained a Lay Servant Certification, and a Certification to Preach. I became a Lay Leader, Church Council Chair, Worship Committee Member, and Event Planner. Five years ago, I began attending St. Nicholas UMC in Hull, where I live, and continued in a leadership role there.

While my involvement with the church was growing, so was my career at Father Bill's and Mainspring, an agency which shelters and houses homeless families and individuals. Currently, I manage a Work Ready program which prepares and places our participants into employment and training programs. I have also been heavily involved with charity work through the Scots’ Charitable Society, the oldest charitable organization in the western hemisphere. I am entering my fifth and final year as President. The charity gives financial assistance to folks of Scottish descent in the form of hardship relief and college scholarships.

I am a native of Norwood, MA and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Communications at Fitchburg State University. I have been a high school soccer and basketball coach and as a sportswriter/cable TV commentator for the past 20 years. My wife Cindy and I reside in Hull.
